About

I started Killer Green Ideas when my wife, Shari,  and I were building our home in 2008.  Like many of our generation, we saw the spend-thriftness of our parents go to the wayside in the disposable society we live in.  Everything today is buy, throw away and buy a new one.  No body wants to fix, repair or reuse like they used to.

While our frugalness was looked at over the years as being cheap, in today’s economy people have once again realized that being thoughtful about spending is a necessary way of life.  With money now becoming one of the least disposable commodities, its becoming more important not only from a standpoint of economics but people are finding that recycling, reuse and reduction in waste are the  right things to do.

I’d watch green programming on television and like most people, felt that some of the green options out there were just too costly for me to ever see a return.  So I set out on a path to find ideas that were not only green and would help save natural resources, but ideas that we could afford and that everyone could do.

Killer Green Ideas is a collection of my ideas, some free and some that required a bit more to execute and install.  Some of our green concepts are simply products of my frugal mentality and a result of our desire to waste less and reuse more.  Other ideas may require professional installers and I’ve included some of those resources on this site.
