Recycled People?

Apr 8th, 2009 | By MikeKilgariff | Category: Share Your Ideas

I was thinking why not use people that are out of work to complete the KILLER GREEN HOUSE.  I contacted the ESC employment security commission.  As you can imagine, they do not have a plan or procedure to provide me (an individual) with people who are looking for work.  I HAVE WORK, THEY NEED WORK.  Why [...]

The Simple Life

Apr 8th, 2009 | By MikeKilgariff | Category: Green Education

Do you remember when life was simple?  Time went on forever… there was time for a garden… there was time for your mom to hang out the wash , on a for real close line, the dryer was used as a back up.
Why, and how, have we “progressed” to the state we are in?  Everything is [...]

Mar 21st, 2009 | By MikeKilgariff | Category: Killer Green Ideas

I wanted to share some ideas from my buddy, Doug Sutton:

Mar 21st, 2009 | By MikeKilgariff | Category: Killer Green Ideas

Idea #2: Recycling Construction Waste

Mar 14th, 2009 | By MikeKilgariff | Category: Killer Green Ideas

During construction, I piled  various materials in the front yard.  There are piles for:
- brick and block
- lumber
- plastics
- metal
- pallet
I have used this staging area as a reference for the various trades to deposit their job waste.  This has been helpful in many ways.  Not the least of which is maintaining a cleaner site.  [...]

Idea #1: Waste Not, Want Not

Mar 12th, 2009 | By MikeKilgariff | Category: Killer Green Ideas

When we started building our home, I knew I wanted to minimize our environmental impact and save some money along the way.  To me, one of the most obvious steps was to minimize our construction waste. Framers and carpenters are notorious for their waste during the building process.  Too many times, I’ve seen a carpenter [...]
